The Bulbs Live on at these Local Spots

People often ask what we do with the bulbs after the Spring Bulb Show comes to a close. Well, here’s the scoop! First, Smith students are invited to a bouquet-cutting event in Lyman. It’s fun, chaotic, and full of joy–see for yourself.
Then the potted bulbs are donated to local community organizations. This year local greening groups came by Lyman after the show and filled their trucks, hatchback trunks and back seats with hundreds of bulbs.
Come springtime next year, you will see daffodils, grape hyacinths, scilla, and other hardy species popping up at Abundance Farm (Northampton), Cancer Connection (Northampton), Northampton Community Garden, Grow Food Northampton Community Garden (Florence), Bombyx Center for Arts & Equity (Florence), Hawlemont Elementary School (Hawley), Mother Root Farm (Plainfield), New Village School (Northampton), Lovefield Farm (Easthampton), McPherson Sensory Garden (Belchertown) and eight affordable housing communities in Northampton and Florence.
It’s one more way that the botanic garden extends the joy of the bulb show out into the community.
