We are in the throes of winter right now, but the 2025 Spring Bulb Show is on the horizon! We have already started pulling bulbs from the cooler that we potted up last fall. This year’s show will boast thousands of bulbs in all the colors of the rainbow. It’ll be just what the doctor ordered come the start of March.
The show will open on Saturday, March 1, 2025 and will run through Sunday, March 16, 2025. We are open for extended hours during the show:
- 10 am - 4 pm, daily
- Members-only hours: 9-10 am daily (Not a member, but want to enjoy this great perk? Join today!)
- Extended hours on Fridays & Saturdays until 8 pm
For groups of 10 or more, we ask that you please sign up in advance.
To kick off the bulb show is an Opening Lecture by Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences Jess Gersony titled “Climate Change, Plants and Longing: An artistic and scientific exploration by a reimagined research laboratory.” The lecture will take place on Friday, February 28 at 7:30 in Weinstein Auditorium, Wright Hall at Smith College with a preview of the bulb show to follow.
While the greenhouse is awash with bulbs, Lyman will also be brimming with art. As in the previous two years, a student-commissioned art installation will be on display in the bulb show. This year there will be two installations, one in each room of the show, created by Ada Comstock Scholar Jamie Biagiarelli and first year student Ella Wang ’28.
Visitors can also enjoy the Younes, Rahmoun: Here, Now video installation in the Church Gallery, which is one of the locations for this multi-sited exhibition, as well as a student-created photo exhibit, Botanical Bodies: When identity blossoms on skin, which is on display throughout the greenhouses
