2024 Mum Hall of Fame Winner

We're pleased to announce the 2024 Mum Show Hall of Fame Winner: Lily Garcia '24! 

Garcia's mum, voting mum #86, received 202 votes out of 2890 total votes. Congrats to Garcia who is joining the long line of Smithies that have been inducted into the Mum Show Hall of Fame, a tradition dating back to the 1920s. As the mum show is being cycled out for a new era of botanical exhibits at the garden, Garcia's mum will be the final entry to the Mum Show Hall of Fame.

Garcia created this mum as an activity in Gaby Immerman's 2023 fall semester BIO 125: Plants in the Landscape class. During this horticultural activity students gathered pollen from the 2023 show, clipped off petals to expose reproductive flower structures, and got to work on creating hybrids for the 2024 show.
