K-12 Groups

Group guided tours and self-guided visits are currently suspended due to COVID-19.

The Botanic Garden welcomes K-12 school groups for guided tours or self-guided visits.
Visiting groups must supervise minors at all times. Please be sure to have adequate staff and chaperones.

All groups of ten or more are required to schedule in advance. Requests are handled on a first come, first served basis, and are processed M-F, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm

Guided Tours must be scheduled at least 4 weeks in advance.
Please note: Any class activities must happen after the guided portion of your tour.
Self-Guided Visits must be scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance.

Groups larger than 40 people need to plan on splitting the group and sending half to another location, and then switching. The Museum of Art welcomes groups with advance reservations. To request a visit fill out their online Museum Group Visit Request Form (preferred) or contact them directly: museduc@smith.edu - 413-585-2781.


Bringing lunch? We recommend reserving an indoor space  in case of bad weather. Spaces are limited so be sure to let us know your plans at least two weeks in advance.

Bus Subsidies

The Botanic Garden offers bus subsidies, up to $200 per bus, for K-12 school groups scheduling Guided Tours.
Subsidies should be requested when booking your tour and are granted on a first come, first served basis.

What an amazing trip our ECT Acting Shakespeare students had last Thursday at the Smith Botanic Garden. It was a perfect day, and there was so much in the greenhouses and out in the gardens to engage the students in new ways.
