Student Workshops
The Botanic Garden offers a number of botanical themed workshops for students. We run workshops for a minimum of 10 students and can accommodate groups of up to 20. Advanced registration is required. Please sign-up here. (If you're having trouble with the registration form, email garden@smith.edu.)
Botanical Body Care
Learn about the different ways that essential oils can be used in our everyday lives. While you're here, you can make your own personal care products like lip balm, body oils, or bath salts.
Tea Blending
In this workshop you will be able to use our materials to make your very own tea that you can taste with your friends at your next house tea.
Terrarium Building
You will be creating a tiny closed ecosystem for your plant to live in, the water inside will continue to be recycled by the plant so all you have to do is make sure it gets lots of sunshine. The word 'terrarium' comes from the latin word 'terra' which means earth. In other words, you will be making your own little earth to take home with you.
Body Scents
Perfumes are typically 10% plant extracts in an alcohol base. We have a wide variety of essential oils for you to play with and use to make a scent that is just right for you!
Propagation
Learn simple propagation techniques by taking cuttings from plants in our collection. Pick out your new best friend to add to your plant collection at home.
