Ruth Brown Richardson Perennial Border Garden
The Ruth Brown Richardson (Smith Class of 1913) Perennial Border was planted in 1984, given in loving memory by Anne Richardson Mason (Smith Class of 1947) and Sarah Richardson Batschelet (Smith Class of 1974).
The Garden extends along the wrought iron fence east of College Lane. Here, plants are arranged for aesthetic purposes, reflecting horticultural rather than taxonomic goals as in the adjacent Systematics Garden.
Clematis bloom on the fence from early June through frost. The outside is planted yearly with an assortment of bedding annuals supplemented by self-sown red flanders poppies to create a colorful display down College Lane.
