Strelitzia reginae, is native to South Africa. It is cultivated as an ornamental and is easy to grow in warm climates. Its showy flowers often used in agganrements, resemble a bird which gives it its common names of bird of paradise or crane flower.

This plant is native to Mexico. Stanhopeas are referred to as upside-down orchids as their blooms emerge from the bottom of the plant. For that reason, these orchids are grown in open weave baskets.
Calliandra emarginata, powder puff tree, is a member of the pea family. It is native to tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas. The name Calliandra comes from the Greek for 'beautiful stamens.' This plant lives in the Warm Temperate House.
