December 17, 2021

Camellias, know as the rose of winter in southern gardens, are in the Theaceae family. There are thousands of cultivars in this genus, the one pictured here is Camellia japonica 'Nuccio's Cameo'.
In the wild they're found in China Taiwan, Japan and southern Korea. The leaves contain abundant anti-inflamatory substances and are used to make tea.

This Camellia, and many more, can be found in the Camellia Corridor.
