Bulbophyllum Orchid Blooms

Bulbophyllum-pecten-veneris is an epiphytic orchid native to lowland forest of China, South Vietnam, Laos and Thailand.
Epipytic, (as opposed to terrestrial) orchids use other plants, in this case, usually trees, for support. Epiphytes do not harm the plants that they grow on. They have what are called aerial roots which take in water and nutrients from rainfall.
There are some species of parasitic orchids which rely on fungi living in their roots for their food.
There are more than 25,000 documented orchid species throughout the world with more being discovered every day!
This plant lives in the Stove House.
