Bromeliad Beauty!

June 6, 2019

Billbergia 'Muriel Waterman' is a hybrid cross bromeliad made in 1946 by botanist Mulford Foster. Bromeliads were not popular in the United States until the 1940s when he started collecting and hybridizing the family. This plant is the result of one of his hybrids and is named for Muriel Waterman of New Zealand an avid collector and breeder.

Most of the genus Billbergia are native to Brazil and almos all are epiphytic (use other plants for support).

The Stove House is where you'll find this beauty.
