Tibouchina grandiflora, common name: Glory Flower is  native to  Mexico, the Caribbean, and South America. Plants in this genus usually have purple flowers and are know for their large velvety leaves.  
This plant is now on view in the Physiology House. It's permanent home is the Palm House.
