Permanent Exhibits

In addition to the everchanging botanical displays in the Lyman Conservatory and the changing educational exhibits in the Church Exhibition Gallery, the visitor can also explore two permanent installations that will keep you occupied for hours:

  • Woods of the World, with its 178 different kinds of wood on display, plus educational panels to help you understand wood grain, cork, different kinds of "figure" in wood, as well as the threats to rare species
  • Plant Life Through the Ages, a 60-foot-long mural, consisting of panels that provide an artful journey through the evolution of plants over the course of 3.5 billion years of life on earth.

The series of acrylic paintings are more works of art than textbook illustrations.
