A brief history and overview of the Botanic Garden of Smith College's annual Chrysanthemum Show, which has been a Smith College tradition for over 100 years. The Mum Show; Tradition and History
Connecting Human and Natural Worlds, is an exhibit by students in Professor Sujane Wu’s EAL 231 The Culture of the Lyric in Traditional China course. The exhibit consists of student produced videos featuring analysis and readings of selected poems from the Dream of the Red Chamber, composed by Cao Xuegin.
Each year, students in Horticulture: Botany for Gardeners demonstrate their understanding of plant anatomy and physiology by breeding their very own hybrid chrysanthemums. These one-of-a-kind creations are then exhibited for Mum Show attendees to vote on with the winning hybrid joining the Chrysanthemum Hall of Fame.
